Shillong, April 18: The Election department announced on Thursday that a total of 31,247 first-time voters are registered in both Shillong and Tura parliamentary seats for the Lok Sabha election scheduled on April 19.

The total number of third voters is 3, and overseas voters are 5, with 14,048 polling personnel deployed to all 3,512 PS.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr. BDR Tiwari, speaking to reporters on Thursday, informed that there are a total of 2,226,567 voters in the entire state, with 1,400,411 voters in Shillong seats and 826,156 voters in Tura.

Additionally, there are 133 polling stations under the Mobile Shadow zone, 409 Total Vulnerable Polling Stations, and 29 Total Critical Polling Stations.

Tiwari also stated that there are 187 polling stations bordering Assam, 140 bordering Bangladesh, 36 in areas of difference, and 128 polling parties through Assam to reach polling stations.

Furthermore, there has been a significant increase in voters compared to the Lok Sabha 2019, with a total of 315,195 additional voters. There are 11,720 People with Disabilities (PWDs) and 10,185 voters aged 85 and above.

Tiwari mentioned that four FIRs have been registered, and a total of ₹10.93 crores cash has been seized since the start of the Model Code of Conduct.

Additionally, during this election, registered voters who do not possess an EPIC card shall present any of the identification documents approved by the Commission, including Aadhaar Card, MGNREGA Job Card, Passbook identification documents, Health Insurance Smart Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian Passport, Pension document with photograph, Service Identity Cards, Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs, and Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card.
