Gujarat HC Thursday ordered an inquiry against the then Vadodara municipal commissioner for “illegally” awarding contract for Harni Motnath Lake development project, where 14 people, including 12 students and two teachers, died in a boat capsize incident in Jan.
The bench expressed its opinion that the then municipal commissioner was responsible for illegally granting contract to Kotia Projects for development of Harni Lake on a PPP model in 2015-16.HC asked the principal secretary of urban development dept to form a panel to find out the “role & responsibility of municipal commissioner instrumental in the grant of contract in favour of Kotia Projects.”
The inquiry will also determine the role and responsibility of other officials. The inquiry has to be completed within two months.
