JAIPUR: The Jaipur police Wednesday arrested an SUV driver who mowed down a 25-year-old woman and seriously injured her male friend after a brawl at a restaurant and bar in Malviya Nagar area of the city early Tuesday.
Police said accused Mangesh Arora, a native of Sirsa in Haryana, passed a comment on the woman, Uma Suthar, at the restaurant-bar, which led to a fight between him and her friend, Raj Kumar Singh. Later, when Singh and Suthar were waiting outside for a cab, Arora ran over the duo in a fit of rage.
“Arora arrived with his girlfriend at the restaurant where Singh was present with Suthar. Arora made a comment about Suthar and a fight broke out, with both parties trading abuses,” DCP (East) Gyan Chandra Yadav said. He said Arora’s girlfriend was also under the scanner, and would be quizzed to find out if she instigated him.
