Nongpoh, May 6: Students who appeared the NEET examination from Nongpoh in Ri-Bhoi district on Sunday are demanding that authorities conduct the exam once again after they were wrongly provided with two different sets of question papers they had to attempt and only later informed to cancel one of them in the limited space of time.
Students and their families have accused the National Testing Agency of negligence in the conduct of the exam and are demanding a retest.
The incident reportedly occurred at the Alpha English Higher Secondary School centre for NEET exam in Nongpoh where the twin sets of question papers were supplied by the Examination Code Centre in charge.
Students who appeared at the centre have complained that two sets of question papers- one of the State Bank of India and other of the Canara Bank, were supplied to them to attempt.
It was well after one and a half hours of the ongoing exam that they were reportedly informed by the invigilator that one of the question paper sets was wrong and need not be attempted.
What made the students furious was the fact that they had lost precious time of close to one and half hours out of the stipulated 3 hours 20 minutes and no extra time was provided for them.
In the limited time left they were compelled to attempt questions totaling 720 marks.
Meanwhile, Smt. W. K Blah, who is one of the Code Examination Centre representatives, said that the error of receiving two question paper sets from the state bank of India and the Canara bank had also confused the centre authorities and an attempt was made to connect with the NTA officials, but in vain.
It was only after the exam progressed that they managed to contact the Director Vijay Kumar who told them that one of the question paper sets was not required for students to attempt and soon the same was informed to the students who had attempted these two paper sets.
She also said that, on 5 May there were complaints on the errors and parents had accepted the clarifications on the error but it was again on 6th May that the parents again came to lodge a complaint. She said that affected students and their parents were advised to submit a complaint and memorandum to the NTA authorities in New Delhi to seek consideration in reappearing for the same examination for students of the affected centre from Ri Bhoi District.
