Guwahati, May 7: Miscreants wearing masks assaulted Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) members and a journalist near the BPF central office in Kokrajhar.
Two BPF members and one journalist sustained injuries during the clash. The BPF members have been undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The voting has been going on peacefully in Kokrajhar since morning, but this untoward incident has shocked the people of the area.
“We were standing in front of the BPF central office, suddenly seven Bolero vehicles came and 10-15 people wearing masks came out from their vehicles and started assaulting us. Mistakenly, they targeted me, thinking I was also a BPF member,” said the victim journalist.
The incident happened around 1:30 pm, when people were busy casting votes at their respective voting centers.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation, but the miscreants’ identities have not yet been determined.
