Weeks after Baby Reindeer made global news and emerged as one of the best Netflix titles of the year so far, the show’s “real” Martha, Fiona Harvey, has spoken up against the creator and lead star of the show, Richard Gadd, accusing him of being “psychotic” and fabricating events to make her appear as a stalker.

Baby Reindeer followed the story of Martha, who was ultimately put behind bars for stalking a man and sexually assaulting him. The miniseries was created by and starred Gadd, adapted from the stand-up comedian’s autobiographical one-man show of the same name.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Fiona Harvey said apart from the media– and “stalkers on social media”–, no one has contacted her post the debut of the Netflix show, which she claims to not have seen.

When asked what she thinks of Richard Gadd, Fiona said, “I think he is psychotic. Anyone going along being in that play, doing this to somebody, I find this behaviour outrageous.” When asked how Richard didn’t see her as a villain on the show but as someone who perhaps was unwell and needed help, she said, “Well, maybe he should look a bit closer to home, at himself as someone who needs help. He is mentally unwell, always was.”

When her past tweets were brought up as a proof of her communication bordering on obsession, she said she never thought of him as someone, who could be a “complete psychopath attacking me this way”.

“My view is, it is all about the money. His preview play wasn’t making any money, he had failed as a comedian, failed as an actor and therefore (he thought), ‘Let’s make some money sell this to Netflix.’ He is making money out of untrue events. He has been the ultimate misogynist.”

Fiona Harvey said she will be taking legal action against Netflix and Richard Gadd and revealed that she is currently dating a man, who happens to be a lawyer. When asked if he is the one who would be filing the case, she said, “He is not doing it, neither am I. Someone else is going to do it. We have instructed the lawyers in parts, but we want to explore all the options out there and the number of people to sue.”
