Tura, Apr 28: A motorcyclist identified as Rakseng M Sangma, 37 years old and hailing from Balachanda in Rajabala, was severely injured on Sunday when he was struck by an overspeeding dumper truck while traveling towards Tura.

According to the police, the collision occurred near Matchikol junction, Tura, around 10:27 am today, causing Sangma’s bike to be dragged under the truck for a staggering 2 kilometers until reaching Bokmagre.

The driver of the truck has been identified as Kazimudin from Singimari, Meghalaya, and is reportedly absconding.

Sangma sustained serious injuries and has been shifted to Tura Civil Hospital for treatment. In the latest reports, the victim’s leg might need to be amputated after a review by doctors.

The dumper truck involved bears the registration number ML08 K 0925 and has been recovered from the ARSS Company Camp. The vehicle has been impounded for further investigation at Araimile Police Station.

This incident is reminiscent of a recent tragic event in Tura where two girls were critically injured after being hit by a truck at Tura Ballongre. Unfortunately, one of the girls suffered the loss of a leg due to the severity of the accident.
