Tura, Apr 20: Two females were critically injured in a road accident this afternoon near ICFAI University in Ballonggre, Tura. The rider has lost one of her lower limbs.
The duo was hit by a dumper truck bearing registration number ML08 H 8587. The vehicle is registered in the name of Moni Bhowmik and was being driven by Hajidul Haque, who hails from the Kalapani area of Agia in Assam’s Goalpara district.
The injured individuals have been identified as Prema Sensi A Sangma and Aabaa Chedime G Momin. One of the victims is a student of St. Mary’s School in Tura.
According to the police report, the scooty driven by the teenagers was heading towards Dakopgre from Ballonggre. At the junction near ICFAI University, they were hit by the dumper truck, which was allegedly being driven recklessly and negligently. The driver managed to flee from the scene of the incident.
