Gangtok, April 11: Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda unveiled the party’s manifesto, known as ‘Sankalp Patra,’ on Thursday in Gangtok. The Ghosna Patra or Sankalp Patra is designed specifically for the upcoming Sikkim Assembly Election 2024.

In the event he highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the Northeast, Nadda asserted on BJP’s commitment to ensuring last-mile delivery and connectivity in the region. He emphasized BJP’s approach towards “Look East, Act East” policy, which has integrated the Northeast into the national mainstream.

During the release of the manifesto BJP national president urged the people to call for change, he said, “enough is enough; you have to join the mainstream, and the mainstream is BJP. The era of regional parties is over; it’s high time to bid farewell to regional politics and embrace BJP, which promises comprehensive development”, he further added.

Emphasizing the BJP’s vision for Sikkim’s progress, Nadda said, “gone are the days of corruption and divisive politics. It’s time for the lotus to bloom in Sikkim,” he added.

Nadda further pointed out the transformation in the Northeast under BJP rule, from a region once synonymous with conflict to one experiencing peace and prosperity. He highlighted achievements such as the signing of 11 peace accords, the surrender of over 9000 insurgents, an 82 percent reduction in violent incidents, and significant investments totaling 5 lakh crore in the region for various developmental projects.

Nadda took the opportunity to dispel misconceptions about the BJP’s stance towards Christianity, citing the party’s governance in Nagaland, where the majority of the population is Christian, as evidence. He also paid homage to the guardian deity of Sikkim, Mount Kanchendzonga.
