Tura, April 8: The District Football Association (DFA), Tura held a meeting on Monday at the District Sports Office, in P.A. Sangma Stadium, Dakopgre in light of the upcoming mega sporting event Tura Football League Super Division 2024.
Headed by the president and secretaries of the DFA, the meeting was also attended by the club managers of the super division category. This meeting was conducted to discuss about the venues, prizes, match timings and the rules and regulations of the game.
The Tura Football League super division matches are set to commence from 23rd of April, 2024 and the opening match to be played between the last year’s super division champion Chipakkore FC and division A champion West Balalgre Club.
The GBHSS Artificial Football Turf, Chandmari, Tura and the P. A. Sangma Stadium, Dakopgre, Tura has been selected for the matches, to be played mostly during the afternoon, whereas the venue for the opening ceremony is yet to be confirmed by the association.
The cash prizes this year is 2 lakhs for the champion and 1 lakh for the runner up, in comparison to the previous tournament’s prize amount which was 1 lakh for the winner and Rs. 50,000 for the runners up. Adding to it, an amount of 5000 rupees has also been allotted as individual prizes for the top scorer or player of the match as per the norm. The association also plans to carry out a fundraiser lottery for the tournament as an added flare.
There are a total of 8 teams that are competing in this league, namely Chipakkore FC, Selsella SA, West Balalgre Club, Maram FC, Dadenggre FC, Druma Sandruma SC, Boca Junior FC and Garuda Foundation. The DFA is all set and thorough preparations are on for in smooth conducting of the tournament. Further meetings will be held to chalk out the the fine tuning of the sporting event.
