NEW DELHI: India strengthened their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings following a commanding innings and 64-run victory in Dharamsala, securing a 4-1 series triumph over England.
This impressive win elevated India’s percentage points from 64.58 to 68.51 after participating in nine matches during the current WTC cycle. Their record includes six victories, two losses, and one draw.
After the series win, India captain Rohit Sharma highlighted the maturity displayed by the young players who effectively handled pressure throughout the contest. After clinching the series, Rohit shared a photo on his social media account with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan, and Dhruv Jurel, acknowledging the contributions of the promising youngsters to the team’s success.
“Garden mein ghoomne wale bande,” Rohit wrote.

The “garden mein ghoomne wale bande” here refers to Rohit’s comments which the Indian skipper made during the Vizag Test. He was heard saying in the stump mic: “Koi bhi garden mein ghumega, *.”
Skipper Rohit himself had an excellent series with the bat, scoring 400 runs in 5 matches in the series at an average of 44.44. He also smashed two centuries and one fifty in the series.
