Uttarakhand government tabled state’s annual budget of Rs 89.230 crore on Tuesday which includes the allocation of budget for the new projects in the state such as Jamrani dam and Song project. Moreover, the state government laid emphasis on Health & Education development as well as infrastructural development in this financial year, allocating a maximum budget for these sectors. Additionally, a special focus has been given on Industrial development, farmers, women welfare, tourism and entrepreneurship in the state.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s finance minister Prem Chand Agarwal tabled state’s annual budget of Rs 89.230 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25 on Tuesday in the state assembly. In this budget, the largest allocations were proposed for Health and Education which is approximately Rs 15376 crore meant to be invested in various schemes such as National Health Mission, Atal Ayushman, National Ayush Mission, and to promote entrepreneurship, skills & innovation in the state. Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this budget will play an important role in giving a new identity to Uttarakhand at the global level.

We have introduced 30 new policies for the growth of Uttarakhand: Agarwal

While presenting the budget in the assembly, state’s finance minister Prem Chand Agarwal said, “Our government has taken several initiatives in the last one year to create a better ecosystem and encourage investment. Apart from this, 30 new policies have been made and amendments have been made in the previously drafted rules. Policies like Seva kshetra policy, solar energy policy, Start-up policy, customized packaged policy, logistics policy, Industrial Park policy, Tourism policy, Drone policy and Aayush policy will prove successful in the sustainable development and investment prosperity of the state.”

Leading Uttarakhand’ is the ‘optionless resolution’ of our government

The amount of Rs 89.230 crore includes approximately Rs 60552.90 crore of revenue expenditure and Rs 28044.21 crore of capital expenditure. Tabling the budget in the House, the state finance minister said, “The total receipt in fiscal year 2024-25 is Rs 88597.11 crore which includes Rs 60552.90 crore revenue receipt and Rs 28044.21 crore capital receipt.” He said further, “Empowered Uttarakhand is our destination and ‘Leading Uttarakhand’ is the ‘optionless resolution’ of our government.” He mentioned, “No loss is expected in this budget”

Highest allocations were proposed for Health and Education

In this budget, the highest allocation of Rs 15376 crore has been made in the budget for the Health and Education in which the government will spend on various schemes such as National Health Mission, Atal Ayushman, National Ayush Mission, and to promote entrepreneurship, skills & innovation in the state. Finance minister said in his budget speech that a budget allocation of Rs 10 crore has been making for the students studying in government colleges and state universities to promote competition and interest for higher education under the “Scholarships for educational programs”

Rs 13780 crore for infrastructural development in the state

After the maximum budget allocation on Health and Education, the state government laid emphasis on infrastructural development by allocating Rs 13780 crore in which Rs 2565 crore for strengthening of infrastructure under the housing and urban development department and Rs 2910 crore for the rural development.

A budgetary provision of Rs 534 crore has been made for the ‘Youth Welfare and Sports’ in the state

Under revenue expenditure, a provision of Rs 534 crore has been made for the youth welfare and sports in which Rs 321 crore are given for the technical education and Rs 834 crore for higher education. The supplementary budget also makes a provision of Rs 2415 crore for the farmers in the state along with the provision of Rs 5658 crore for poor welfare. For women, the state has allocated Rs 574 crore in this financial year for the schemes like Nanda Gaura, Mukhyamantri Mahalaxmi scheme, Mukhyamantri Vatsalya scheme, etc.

The budget allocation for Jamrani Dam, Song project and Roof-top solar project

To promote the irrigation facilities in the state and provide drinking water, the state government made the provision of budget allocation for the projects such as Rs 710 crore for Jamrani Dam, Rs 300 crore for Song project which are soon to take shape in the state. Apart from this, the government has allocated Rs 100 crore for Roof-top solar projects and Rs 250 crore for the 38th National games to be held in Uttarakhand this year.

This budget will play an important role in giving a new identity to Uttarakhand at the global level: CM Dhami

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the able guidance of respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, our double engine government has today presented an inclusive and development-oriented budget of ₹ 89,230 crore for the overall development of Uttarakhand. Along with improved agriculture, better education system, expansion of health facilities, women empowerment, developed tourism sector, upliftment of youth and operation of special schemes for the elderly, this budget will play an important role in giving a new identity to Uttarakhand at the global level.
