NEW DELHI: JMM vice president Champai Soren on Friday took oath as the Chief minister of Jharkhand at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi. He was administered the oath by governor C P Radhakrishnan Soren. Along with Soren, senior Congress leader Alamgir Alam and RJD leader Satyanand Bhokta also took oath as state ministers.
The 67-year-old tribal leader after taking oath, will offer tributes to the statues of Mahamta Gandhi and Birsa Munda in Ranchi. He is also expected to chair a brief cabinet meeting and then fly out to Pakur to receive Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra when it enters Jharkhand, party sources said.
Soren has been sworn in as the 12th chief minister of the state. The significant turn came amidst the political unrest in Jharkhand. Earlier on Wednesday, Hemant Soren submitted his resignation to the governor as the the chief minister. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha shortly after this elected Champai Soren as their next leader.
