NEW DELHI: BJP has alleged that even after the ED issued a look-out notice, TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan has managed to remain untraceable, which cannot be possible without the “patronage” of Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, whom the party accused of having a track record of shielding criminals. “The ED has issued a lookout for Sheikh Shahjahan, the dreaded criminal and one of Mamata and her nephew Abhishek’s trusted henchman.He is wanted for, among other crimes, the massive ration scam ,” BJP in-charge for Bengal Amit Malviya said Sunday. “But Shahjahan, who claimed to be the don of Sandeshkhali, is absconding. This wouldn’t have been possible without the patronage of Mamata, who is also home minister of Bengal.”
He said, “Soon after Bogtui massacre, Mamata drove around with accused Anubroto Mondal in her official car. There is no doubt Sheikh is under her protection. But like she couldn’t save Anubroto, she won’t be able to save Sheikh. Her blood-soaked empire, built on crime, is crumbling.”
