KHADC earmarks Rs 6 lakh for Sports, Art and Culture

Shillong, Dec 22: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Pyniaid Sing Syiem on Friday informed that the District Council has earmarked Rs 6 lakhs every year for the Sports, Art and Culture department.

Replying to the query raised by MDC of Sohra constituency Titostarwell Chyne, Syiem said that the council is in process to collect data on the status of financial assistance for the sports and culture department.

Syiem informed that Rs 20,000 has been earmarked for Sports and Rs 30,000 for Arts and Culture to every member each year and the funds are being directly transferred to the bank account of all MDCs.

He added that the District Council did not receive any funds for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 with regard to the Sports, Art and Culture department.

Earlier MDC of Mawthadrashan Jambor War in his supplementary question had asked, with regard to the submission of proposal and Utilization Certificate (UCs), in which CEM replied “Any MDC who has implemented any projects or schemes under Sports, Art and Culture department prior the release of funds, can still submit their UCs and the Council will release the funds to their respective accounts.”
